My History

For the past five years I have been growing as a photographer, trying new techniques, genres and equipment in an effort to improve both my photography and creativity. My journey with photography began with an exposure to Wildlife Photography by my father Robert Pitman in the mid to late 80’s. At the time we lived first in Livingston, MT so trips to Yellowstone National Park were frequent, and my Dad had his camera out frequently in his effort to grow and improve as a photographer. Not cheap or easy in the film era.

From him I learned the basics of the exposure triangle and basic composition, fundamentals that I still work to refine and perfect in today’s age of digital cameras, lightroom, photoshop, and now AI Imagery. I try to capture the photos in camera to the best of my ability to minimize editing. I am decidedly not a Photoshop expert (bare beginner really), and I am still trying to find my editing “style” using Lightroom.

Current Endeavors

Lately, I have been expanding my photographic skills to include use off camera strobes to create dramatic lighting for both indoor and outdoor portraits, and to supplement natural light. I constantly travel with my camera by my side to capture opportunistic wildlife and landscape photos throughout Montana.

Bookings

Photography is not my profession, it is my hobby and passion. However, it is a very expensive hobby, especially for a gear junky so I am opening myself up to paid shoots. I travel regularly for my day job, so my opportunities to set up photoshoots are limited. I am looking for models, creative ideas and collaborators to work with for all genre’s of Photography.
